Former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is reported to have opened up negotiations to become the new Chelsea manager, but he is far from being their number one choice.
Spanish media are those reporting the Enrique link, but the bookies are far from convinced. They have Sarri as low as 1.67 and Enrique as high as 11.00.
It should also be noted that Antonio Conte has yet to depart, which is unusual if you look at recent managerial departures at Chelsea. They tend to offload their managers rather quickly and that has not happened this time.
It should also be taken into consideration that Roman Abramovich appears to be distancing himself from his Chelsea commitments and, if that is the case, there is every possibility that Conte will remain at the helm.
However, if the Italian does depart, then Sarri looks very likely to be offered the role over Enrique. Indeed, a large section of the media, as well as the bookies, are convinced that the Italian will be replacing his fellow countryman at Stamford Bridge.
But as always with this kind of gossip it is best to err on the side of caution. Chelsea are not a conventional club when it comes to managerial appointments. Remember Rafa Benitez anyone?
