England midfielder James Milner is ready to sign a new contract at Manchester City.
The England midfielder is in the final year of his current deal and looked set to be heading out of the Etihad after admitting that he needed more minutes on the pitch.
However, he is now ready to commit himself to a new long-term contract.
As quoted on the Sky Sports website, he said: “I’d love to stay at City.
“That’s the bottom line. “It’s a no-brainer for me. I want to be here. I would love to sign a new contract.
“We are talking, but there hasn’t been an actual contact offer yet.
“Obviously I’d like things to be sorted sooner rather than later, but I’m not putting a timescale on it.
“It’s a busy period, so these things tend to take a bit of a back seat.
“At the moment, all I am thinking about is keeping my place in the team.”
Milner added: “I’ve just been happy to start more games and get more minutes on the pitch.
“It’s difficult to be at your best when you are in and out of the team.
“I don’t think I have played five or six games in succession since Roberto Mancini was here.”
