Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has admitted he wants to sign a new contract at Old Trafford.
Carrick, 33, who was last night forced to pull out of the England squad with a groin injury, wants to end his career with the Old Trafford giants.
As quoted on the Daily Star website, he said: “I haven’t expected it to be honest, with the injury.
“It will probably be around Christmas or after that. Of course I want to stay, I’ve got nowhere else to go!”
Carrick, who has filled in at centre back for Louis van Gaal in United’s last two games, and the ex-West Ham star was full of praise for the Dutchman.
“He and his staff have been really supportive from the first day and I have a lot to thank them for because he had a lot on his plate coming in,” added Carrick.
“But he took his time to make sure I was alright and getting on the right track and thankfully I am back.”
