Mourinho confirms striker is needed as £32 million man set to sign up

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho admits he needs a striker with the killer instinct.

It is no secret that the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Demba Ba and Fernando Torres have trouble finding the back of the net on a regular, despite the fact they have Eden Hazard, Willian, Frank Lampard and Oscar creating just behind them.

And now a prolific goalscorer is top of his summer shopping list, with Diego Costa and Mario Mandzukic tipped to make the move to London.

As quoted on the Metro website, Mourinho said: “Against the teams that are more defensive, more aggressive, more worried about trying to keep a clean sheet than really to play, we keep saying the same.

“We have good players but we don’t have the kind of striker able to, in a short space, make an action, to score a goal, to open the gate.

“In these kind of matches you just need to open the gate. When you open the gate, you win much more.

“We have to try to improve as a team but also add the attacking player with that killer instinct and number of goals that push teams to different levels.” © 2017 Frontier Theme
