It is being reliably reported that Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho, has set his sights on Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez.
According to ESPN, United are keen to make a deal as early as the January transfer window and that Mourinho is confident that he can make it happen.
Mourinho has become increasingly frustrated with his defence and has made strengthening the back line his top priority.
United have been leaking goals, they have conceded 14 goals in the Premier League this season and already Mourinho has publicly been attacking his defenders and their attitude.
Gimenez has recently fallen out of favour with manager Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone and the Spanish giants are reported to be open to the idea of selling the young Uruguayan if the right offer comes along.
A fee in the region of £40-50 Million is being touted, a price that is easily affordable for United, but still risky for a 21 year old.
It was thought that United would have looked to sign a more experienced player, however, it does now appear that Mourinho is happy to go with youth.
