Newcastle made a stuttering start to their return to the Premier League as they opened their campaign with two consecutive losses to Tottenham and Huddersfield all amidst reports of an unhappy Rafael Benitez who claims club owner Mike Ashley has not kept his promise to provide him with funds to spend in the transfer market.
However, the Toons have been impressive since that time as they have put together a run of two successive wins by hammering West Ham 3-0 and also winning Swansea away last weekend. They welcome an equally impressive Stoke City with confidence and they look likely to continue their good run of form.
Stoke City lost their first league match by a narrow margin of 1-0 to Everton, but they have not tasted any defeat since that time. The Potters defeated Arsenal in their second game of the season and have followed that up with draws against West Brom and Manchester United, the latter whom had been on a run of three consecutive victories. They are a solid defensive side, but they have lost six of their last ten away games in the league and they could lose this game too.
We believe Newcastle will continue their good run of form and win this game.
