Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has urged Arsene Wenger to land Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin for Arsenal.
Godin has become one of the most assured centre-backs in Europe since moving to the Spanish capital in 2011.
His partnership with Miranda last season was the bedrock of Atleti’s successful title challenge and their run to the final of the Champions League.
Arsenal were strongly linked with a big-money move for the Brazil international last summer, and will now look to reignite their interest.
As quoted on the Daily Mail website: “Laurent Koscielny has steadied things in defence, with Arsenal winning 15 of the 18 games he’s played since January 1 but, to progress, Wenger needs another top centre back.
“Gabriel Paulista arrived in the New Year but it seems it was to provide cover for Koscielny and Per Mertesacker.”
