Holland full-back Gregory van der Wiel has passed a medical to complete his move to Fenerbahce.
Manchester United had previously been linked with a move for der Wiel, however, any chance of him becoming a Red Devil are now completely extinguished.
The former Paris St Germain player is set to be joined in the Turkish side’s defence by Russia’s Roman Neustadter after Fener revealed the Schalke centre-back is flying in for talks.
Van der Wiel left French champions PSG at the end of the season after a fractious campaign in which he clashed with striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and criticised coach Laurent Blanc. All three have now left the club.
A statement on Fenerbahce’s website read: “We can confirm Dutch player Gregory van der Wiel today passed his medical check.”
Neustadter featured for Russia in their dismal Euro 2016 campaign, which saw them eliminated after finishing bottom of Group B with one point.
Fenerbahce said on their website: “Negotiations have begun for the transfer of Roman Petrovich Neustadter. The Russian player will arrive in Istanbul on Tuesday evening, July 5, and future negotiations will be completed.”
