Chelsea has long been interested in signing Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal but any hopes they had of doing a deal this January have been extinguished.
Vidal has made it clear that there is absolutely no chance of him leaving the German champions this winter but has left the door open for a possible move in the summer.
Speaking to Radio Cooperativa, Vidal had this to say
“I’m happy at Bayern Munich and I will continue here until June. I hope to win the Champions League and then we shall see. Right now, I’m 100 percent committed to the Bavarian club and there’s no chance of me changing teams.”
That is that then, however, it is also unlikely that Chelsea will remain interested come June simply because of the age of the 30-year-old.
Vidal has worked with the Blues boss Antonio Conte in the past when both were at Juventus and the Italian has made no secret of his admiration for the Chilean international stating that he has great respect for the midfielder.
You can never say never in football but Vidal wearing the Blue of Chelsea is probably never going to happen, not least because there is no guarantee that Conte himself will be at Stamford Bridge in the summer.
