Atletico Madrid are reported to want Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as a replacement for Diego Simeone, who is set to leave at the end of the season.
Simeone, who has previously attracted interest from Premier league clubs, has given the Spanish side notice that he intends to move on in the summer, with his former club Inter Milan also a possible destination.
Real Madrid already have Tottenham boss Pochettino on their wanted list as they plan for the long-term future, as Sunday Mirror sport have reported.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is fully aware of the speculation concerning his bright young manager and will do absolutely everything in his power to try to keep him.
He has already revealed his intentions by agreeing a new lucrative contract in May with the former Southampton boss, which runs until 2021.
Contracts often count for nothing when the giant clubs with big money come calling, but Levy knows that better than anyone and will be more than prepared to fight his corner once the Spanish duo show their hands.
Whatever way this is looked at, it is not good news for the Tottenham faithful.
