Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has claimed that Liverpool should be steeling themselves for a fight to keep hold of Suarez this summer.
The much talked about striker has been in superb form for Liverpool this season and netted 31 goals last term in the Premier League.
However, he is a long-term target for Madrid and their interest has only heightened after watching him impressive this campaign.
The Daily Mirror quotes Calderon as saying: “Luis Suarez, no doubt, is one of the best players in the world and he’s had a fantastic season with Liverpool.
“Of course Real Madrid could bid for him. With Real Madrid, you have to expect anything, that’s for sure.
“Karim Benzema is a good player but it’s true he didn’t score as many goals as people thought he should.”
