Galatasaray president Duygun Yarsuvat claims that Chelsea were the only club to bid for Wesley Sneijder at the start of the season.
Sneijder has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United since the summer, but no move has eventuated.
Now seems that Chelsea were the closest club to pulling off a deal for the player.
Yarsuvat told GS TV: “Chelsea made an offer for Wesley Sneijder at the start of the season.
“He could have been beside Jose Mourinho, that is the only club he would have joined. But he’s happy at Galatasaray.”
