Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has admitted that new boy Alvaro Morata has not had the best possible start to his Chelsea career and needs to improve drastically.
The Spaniard has featured in two preseason games so far and each game ended in losses for the Blues while Morata has managed just one assist so far. The Blues paid £60 million for his signature this summer and better performances are expected from him.
Conte admitted that Morata was not up to scratch just yet with just one game left before the start of their title defence. According to the Italian boss, Morata has to improve the physical side of his game, if he will make any meaningful impact in the English top flight this season.
The Blues have already asked Diego Costa not to return to the club, which leaves Conte with just Morata and Mitchy Batshuayi as the only first team strikers, but Batshuayi has been stealing the limelight in preseason, and may be started ahead of Morata if he fails to get to grips with the physical demands of the Premier League early on.
