It is being reported in the British media that Spanish giants Real Madrid are considering making a move for Chelsea defender David Luiz in the January transfer window.
Luiz is no longer an automatic first choice at Stamford Bridge since falling out with manager Antonio Conte following Chelsea’s defeat against Roma in the Champions League last October.
The Brazilian has since been dropped for the big game against Man Utd and was a substitute against West Brom and Liverpool.
Luiz currently is injured and so will not feature in tonight’s game against Swansea City, a situation that Conte has commented on,
‘I must be honest at the moment it is difficult for me to answer [how long he will be sidelined], It will be up to the doctor to assess it and take the best decision.’
Luiz has found himself in the gossip columns over the last few month and Real Madrid is not the only club to have been linked with the 30-year-old, both Barcelona and AC Milan have also been reported to be considering making a move for the defender.
One of the issues that may curtail a January transfer, is the fact that Luiz is cup-tied for the Champions League, though that would not affect AC Milan.
All said and done it does look like Luiz will be moving on soon, it is a world cup year and at the age of 30, the last thing the Brazilian will want is to be a bench warmer.
