Arsenal is reported to have tabled a huge £40 Million bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, which has been dismissed out of hand by the European Champions.
Benzema is in woeful form at the moment, open a barn door and he would still miss but that has not stopped Real from believing that the French international is worth a lot more than the £40 Million offer made by the Gunners.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez ranks Benzema as one of the best strikers in the world despite the evidence pointing to the exact opposite.
Arsenal will not be upping their offer for a player that is widely seen as past his best and at 29-year-old, fast approaching his declining years.
It seems that Perez is under the mistaken illusion that Premier League clubs will pay way over the odds for the sake of it, while that may be true in rare cases, generally speaking, English clubs will not be blackmailed, especially when there is younger better talent available elsewhere.
It is also being reported that there is unrest within the Real dressing room at the continued inclusion of Benzema in the first team when he is clearly out fo form and Perez slapping a huge valuation on the striker will not help the morale of those behind Benzema in the thinking of coach Zinedine Zidane.
Isco and Marco Asensio are said to be unhappy with the inclusion of Benzema and Ronaldo is also reported to have fallen out with the French hitman.
Whatever game Perez and Zidane are playing it is not one that Arsenal will be apart of and unless they get realistic over Benzema then the Gunners will simply look elsewhere.
