Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has given up hope of signing Robin van Persie as the player looks all set to join the squad to play against Cologne.
The Arsenal skipper revealed in early July that he won’t be signing a new contract which has only one year left to expire.
Both the Manchester clubs and Juventus are interested in landing him and have lodged separate bids however those were all rebuffed as it didn’t match Arsenal’s valuation.
Arsenal will be selling the Dutchman as they wouldn’t take the risk of letting him go for nothing. However, Wenger wants his talisman to stay rather he will wait for the right offers to come.
Mancini said to BBC “Van Persie? No, I don’t think he will come here.”
Juventus have also forfeited the race leaving only Manchester United to aim for the prize. However, Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Arsenal are asking too much for the 29-year-old while the rivalry between the two sides can prove to be an obstinate obstacle in signing him.
