Rodgers to welcome new addition as Liverpool clear to announce deal

Liverpool are clear to finalise the signing of Barcelona full-back Martin Montoya after Dani Alves reportedly agreed a new contract, according to the Daily Star website.

Barcelona’s transfer embargo had made them reluctant to sell while Alves’ contract situation remained unresolved, but the Brazilian international has now put pen to paper on a new two-year deal at the Camp Nou.

The development means Liverpool are now free to complete a deal for Montoya, with the 24-year-old’s arrival likely to fill the void left by Glen Johnson’s impending departure.
