Shock! Legend on verge of signing with Liverpool

Gary McAllister looks set to move back to Liverpool as a first team coach, according to the Daily Star website.

The 50-year-old former Coventry and Leeds manager, who won the League Cup, FA Cup, Uefa Cup, Super Cup and Charity Shield with Liverpool in 2001, has discussed with Brendan Rodgers the possibility of being the latest recruit to the manager’s backroom team for the coming season.

The highly-rated Sean O’Driscoll has replaced Pascoe and Dutch coach Pep Ljinders has been promoted to work with the first team, but Rodgers continues to want at least one more arrival and McAllister remains a likely appointment.
