Jose Mourinho has told the club’s official television channel that after a long layoff Marcos Rojo, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic could return against Newcastle this weekend.
Both Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered serious knee injuries last season and it did not appear that either of them would return in 2017, but Mourinho said they have both recovered well and may well participate in the Newcastle game.
Rojo has already played for the United U23’s on Wednesday, the Argentine defender played half a game against Athletic Bilbao.
Paul Pogba was injured in September in the Champions League match against Basel, and the news about him is also positive and will be available to face Newcastle.
It is highly likely that all three will play some part in the game, Mourinho will be eager to have all three playing, especially Pogba who United have clearly missed, something that the self-appointed special one admitted.
“You can clearly see Manchester United this season before Paul’s injury and after Paul’s injury. It’s as simple as that.” Mourinho said:
