Hector Bellerin has admitted he has no regrets about leaving Barcelona for Arsenal.
If the full-back had stayed at the Nou Camp, he would almost certainly be watching the Catalan giants from the stands at next week’s Champions League final.
Instead, he will cap a breakthrough season with a place in Arsene Wenger’s squad for the FA Cup final.
As quoted on the Sky Sports website, he said: “If they had told me at the beginning of the season it would turn out like this I wouldn’t have believed it. It has been a great season for me personally.”
He said: “I saw the opportunity and thought I have got to take it. Some people prefer to stay home in their comfort zone. I felt the right thing to do was to come here.
“The success of Cesc Fabregas as well, that he grew up here more than in Barcelona, was something that attracted me a lot as well.
“If I stayed there, I don’t know what I would have been. Some of my team-mates play second division, and they will probably get relegated.
“If I wanted to be at Barcelona I would have stayed there. My challenge was to come to England and I came here to stay and to cement my place in the first team.”
