Liverpool has been fighting to sign RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita for a long time now, but they are about to start fighting to keep one of their most important players, Philippe Coutinho after Barcelona made a huge bid for the Brazilian.
The Catalans have reportedly offered £72 million for the “little magician” although Liverpool is expected to turn it down. Barcelona has been interested in Coutinho for the past few seasons, and Neymar went public with his desire to play alongside his Brazilian team mate last season.
Barcelona’s first choice to replace Andre Iniesta had been PSG’s Marco Verratti, but the French giants are not in the mood to do business, and they have informed Barcelona so.
Liverpool is expected to reject the offer anyway as they are looking to build their future teams around the Brazilian who signed a new deal with the club last summer, that made him the club’s highest earner as well as keeping him contracted until 2022.
Barcelona is expected to come back with an improved offer, but it would take a world record bid to break Liverpool’s resolve.
