The trio of Sunderland, West Ham, and Everton are currently in a race to sign Dynamo Kiev defender Domagoj Vida. Sunderland have been scouting the Croatian for over a year now, but are bottom of the league table and look set to miss out on his signature if they are relegated.
However, they are not the only team looking to sign the defender, Everton and West Ham are also on the hunt for his signature.
The player will have a year left on his contract by the end of the season and any move to sign him would be favourable for the Premier League teams, as he would come cheaper than if he had a longer contract.
West Ham are looking to strengthen their centre back and right back position in the summer and see Vida, who can play as either centre back or full back, as a good option.
Everton also need a strong alternative as back up for their current centre back and full back position after losing Coleman to a long term injury.
Sunderland look set to lose out, with the player reluctant to play for a team in the lower tier of English football.
