Diego Costa and Antonio Conte may not have seen the last of each other ahead of the resumption of the Blues’ preseason this weekend.
Antonio Conte told Costa he was not part of his plans for next season via text message during the summer break, a decision the player accepts, but his club is furious about.
According to Sun Sport, however, the Brazil-born Spain internationals is ready to have talks with the Italian manager to try and calm down the situation.
Diego Costa wants to join Atletico Madrid, but the Spaniards are currently banned from signing players until next winter. Costa wants to play at next year’s World Cup in Russia, and does not want to sign for Atletico now, and wait until January to start playing.
Chelsea has also been frustrated by their pursuit of key attacking targets so far, and the loss of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United means they would have to pay so much for other targets who are not proven in the Premier League.
This situation means both club and player needs each other. Costa’s agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly arranged for a reconciliation meeting to try and broker peace between the two parties.
