Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte is set to hold talks with the club’s hierarchy after missing out on the signing of Romelu Lukaku. The Italian who already had the Belgian in his plans for next season is said to be gutted at the fact that Manchester United pipped the Blues to his signing.
Lukaku passed a medical in Los Angeles last night which saw him complete a £75 million move to Old Trafford despite Chelsea’s late effort to try and convince him to move to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues squad are due back for preseason on Monday, and Conte is said to have asked for an explanation why it has been difficult for the club to sign any of his targets.
The Italian’s future is still in doubt as he is yet to put pen to paper on the new deal the Blues offered him at the end of the season. The Blues have been struggling to sign any players this summer ahead of a season that they would be competing in four major competitions.
They have been talks with AS Roma over the transfer of defender, Antonio Rudiger, but not much progress has been made as the player is currently enjoying an extended break in the USA.
