Atletico Madrid have joined the race to sign Sampdoria striker, Patrik Schik.
The 21 year old Czech Republic striker has been in very fine form since he moved to the Italian club last summer. The goal he scored last weekend against Torino was his 11th of the current campaign.
He has been linked with a move to several English teams this summer with Tottenham and Manchester City credited with the strongest interests.
The pair are said to have been scouting the attacker throughout this season, and they are both close to making an offer for his services.
However, reports from Italy is now claiming the pair may lose the player to Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid.
Atletico’s interest will certainly drive up Sampdoria’s asking price for the attacker, he reportedly has a £21 million release clause written into his current deal, and he is contracted to the club until the summer of 2020.
Pep Guardiola would hope that the player would choose Manchester City over Atletico with the lure of playing for him as one of the best managers in the world.
