Tottenham are quietly going about their business ahead of the new season and it is not in the transfer market that they are doing their best work but with some of their most crucial assets.
Reports today suggest that Dele Alli is set to sign a new contract with the North London outfit and, if true, it follows hot on the heels of the tying down of Mauricio Pochettino and star striker Harry Kane on long-term contracts.
Kane put pen to paper on a mammoth six-year deal on June 4th, while at the end of May Pochettino signed a five-year deal. Both are very significant in light of the number of clubs that covet the pair, not least Real Madrid.
Tottenham are also looking to tie down some of their other top players, including, Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier, Son Heung-Min and Kieran Trippier. One has to think that with Kane and Pochettino already committed to the club long-term, and Alli set to follow, that the others will most likely do the same.
It also sends out a very positive message to any transfer targets as it demonstrates that the manager and best players will be remaining at White Hart Lane. With the new stadium on the horizon and the promise of consistent Champions League football, the future looks very bright for London’s top team.
