Tottenham hotspur have joined the race for RB Leipzig midfielder, Naby Keita. Keita is one of the rare defensive midfielders who contribute goals to their team’s effort. The Guinea international has been the subject of interest from some of Europe’s top sides this season.
Tottenham have been left disappointed by the contributions of Mousa Sissoko this season. The Frenchman starred for France in last year’s Euros, earning a move to Spurs that summer, but has failed to impress this season, and Mauricio Pochettino is said to be ready to cut his losses and get rid of the midfielder
He believes that Keita can be the player he thought he had bought when he signed Sissoko. Mousa Dembele is also a player that Pochettino wants to replace, the Belgian is approaching 30 and is the oldest member of Pochettino’s team. The Argentine believes this is the right time to begin to look for his replacement.
Keita is not the most popular player in Germany, but he has gradually built up his reputation as one of the most dependable players in the Bundesliga.
His form has attracted the interest of top teams, and Keita himself is open to a move to England as he hopes to test himself with the best players in the world.
Liverpool are also said to be interested in signing the 22 year old, but they will have a battle on their hands now that Spurs have entered the race for his signature.
