Tottenham Hotspur has taken their search for defensive reinforcements to the German Bundesliga. The Lilywhites are set for another campaign in the Champions League after failing to make it out of the group stage last season, and they know that to make it in Europe as well as other competitions they would compete in next season, they will need more players.
Their search has seen them register an interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Matthias Ginter. The defender who is just 23 years old, is already a world cup winner and would be available for as low as £15 million this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino is particularly interested in Ginter because of his age, as the Argentine prefers younger players who he can teach his methods, and who have the energy to adapt to his high-pressing tactic.
Ginter is set to leave Dortmund, however, he wants to meet with the new boss, Peter Bosz, and confirm if he is a part of his plan going forward.
Tottenham is uncertain about the future of some of their defenders. Kyle Walker looks likely to leave this summer, while the futures of Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose is still unclear.
