Liverpool is set to lose out to rivals Tottenham in the race to sign Schalke’s Max Meyer. The German youngster is one of the most exciting talents in his country right now, and the Premier League duo are looking to prise him away from his team.
Online media is claiming that the player looks closer to signing for Tottenham than for Liverpool. The Reds were hoping to clinch the German prospect through the influence of their manager, Jurgen Klopp, but per the source, the player prefers to play in London than in the North-East.
Max Meyer had an underwhelming 2016/2017 season as he netted just two goals and providing five assists in 39 appearances for Schalke.
Meyer made his debut for Schalke at the age of 16 in the year 2013 and had since gone on to become a prominent fixture in the club’s first team.
Spurs are closing in on a deal worth £17 million for the teenager who starred for his country at the just concluded European Under21 competition.
