Tottenham have received a major boost in their pursuit of German teenager Max Meyer. Meyer is one of the hottest prospects in German football right now and his performances have attracted the interest of some of Europe’s big club sides.
Liverpool and Tottenham were thought to be the clubs close to signing him this summer, but Tottenham seems to have stolen a march on the Reds. Spurs position in the Premier League, as well as their coaches reliance on young players, seem to have caught the interest of Meyer.
In a boost to Tottenham’s hope of signing him, his club has confirmed that negotiations over a new contract have stalled.
Tottenham did try to sign him last summer, but Schalke slapped a £40 Million price tag on the player, a fee which would have required Tottenham to break their transfer record.
But with the player’s contract reaching its final 18 months, it is believed that a fee in the region of £15 Million or less can get Schalke to sell.
