Arsenal’s forgotten man Mathieu Debuchy is set to finally end his Gunners nightmare as he gets close to making a permanent switch back home with Nice.
The former Newcastle full back has had a tough time with injuries since he joined the Gunners as a replacement for Bacary Sagna in the summer of 2014.
Debuchy made only 14 starts for the Gunners in three years as he constantly struggled with injuries. He was moved to Bordeaux last winter, but unfortunately for him, his injury curse followed him to the French club, and he could not make any meaningful contribution to the club’s cause.
Now 31 years old, Debuchy is hoping that he can kick start his career at home with Nice. The Mario Balotelli inspired side are in the Champions League this season after an impressive 2016/2017 season.
Nice have had to allow their former right back Ricardo Pereira return to FC Porto after his two years loan deal expired this summer, they hope that Debuchy would recapture the form that saw Arsenal sign him for £12 million from Newcastle in the summer of 2014.
