Despite appearing to be out of the Gunners’ plans this season, attacker Lucas Perez may not return home to Deportivo as first thought after the club’s president latest statement on the move.
Perez signed for Arsenal last season but failed to nail down a starting spot despite scoring some very important goals in the FA and Capital One cups. He seems to be the last in the Gunners’ attacking pecking order, and the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette means his chances of featuring is even slimmer this season.
However, it appears as though the Gunners still don’t want him to leave this summer. According to Deportivo’s president, Tino Fernandez, the Gunners have informed him in clear terms that they are not interested in outright selling the front man.
Perez has an eye on playing for Spain at next year’s World Cup in Russia and he knows that only regular football with a good performance to match can get him an invitation to the La Roja’s camp.
