Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has branded Arsenal a small team after knocking them out of the FA Cup on Sunday.

“It is the best time to play Arsenal and we came to the match very confident,” Gomes explained.

“When you see Arsenal playing against big teams, they look like a small team. They don’t look like winning a title soon.”

“We knew once we had the ball we’d be able to pass it around since Arsenal gives you too much space. They are not strong defensively.”

“Our fantastic run has come to an end on a day where we felt that our performance deserved a win,” he said.

“Credit to Watford, they created few chances but took them all. It’s sad because we gave everything.”

“The players don’t miss on purpose. You have to be realistic. Of course on the first goal, we made a mistake. It was not possible medically to have started Welbeck.”
