Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has announced that Callum Chambers will remain at the club this summer.
It has been suggested that the 20-year old defender may be loaned out to a rival Pemier League club next season, after failing to hold down a regular place in the squad as of late.
However, Wenger insists he will stay in north London and continue to develop his game.
“We want to keep him here next season, he won’t go on loan. His England call was a bit early,” said Wenger on the Sky Sports website.
“People remember the fact that he had a difficult time at Swansea earlier in the season. Now imagine that happens to him with England in a big game?
“It’s terrible afterwards. You carry that with you your whole life. You have to be equipped to deal with that kind of pressure.
“But it was not unhelpful. It shows him that if you do well then you are rewarded but he was not completely there experience-wise to deal with that.”
