West Ham United are on the verge of completing a stunning transfer deal with Barcelona, according to the latest transfer rumours.
The player in question is Gerard Deulofeu, known in England from his days at Everton.
West Ham manager David Moyes has made it clear where his priorities lay following the injury to Michail Antonio.
“Michail Antonio has not fully recovered from a groin problem. Our medical people believe it could clear up in a couple of weeks but if not it could be more serious,” Moyes told the Evening Standard.
“We’re not sure yet but if it is the latter – and that would be a real shame – we will need to go out to try to make a suitable signing this month because we will need someone who plays down that righthand side.”
Deulofeu plays in the same position as Antonio and is available providing the clubs can agree on a fee.
The right-winger is basically surplus to requirements since Barca bought Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele and if he wants regular first team football then he has little option but to move on.
The 23-year-old did not exactly set the Premier League alight when he was at Everton but Moyes obviously thinks that he can get the best out of a player that is undoubtedly very talented.
This is one deal that has a high chance of happening.
