West Ham United have started making serious efforts towards getting reinforcements for next season. The Hammers have been linked with moves for players in the top half of the table.
They are said to be targeting players who lack playing time at top clubs and want to lure them with a promise of regular football.
According to reports, they have opened talks with Manchester City over the possible transfer of defender Pablo Zabaleta.
Zabaleta joined city from Espanyol in 2008 and has enjoyed a trophy laden spell with the club. He is 32 and city are willing to let him go as they plan to bring in younger players into their team. He would be a free agent after this season.
West Ham have also made contact with Liverpool over the possible transfer of their winger, Lazar Markovic. The Serbian has been told that he is not part of Jurgen Klopp’s plan for the future and can look for a new club.
West Ham were impressed by his performance against the Hammers for his on-loan club Hull City and believe the winger has the flair to fill the space left by Dimitri Payet.
