Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been speaking about the winning mentality, desire and tactical improvement of star man Alexis Sanchez.
Sanchez is having a brilliant season so far, he is scoring on a regular basis and showing more of a team minded mentality according to Wenger.
“I think Alexis adds to his game a desire to fight for the team and as well, he’s a winner, he wants to win the game and he does what it takes to win the game,” Wenger told Arsenal’s official website.
“I believe on a tactical front he has improved much more, he works much more for the team and when it’s needed during games, he works very hard for the team.”
Sanchez is now the clear first choice up front, he is the go to man for Wenger and is no longer employed in the traditional number ten role, he is basically an out and out striker as Wenger now confirms,
“He has the instinct of a real striker,” Wenger said. “He wants to hit you, he wants to go at you. When he gets the ball, he runs forward and he runs at any defender. He shows, maybe sometimes to excess, that dribbling quality is an important quality for a striker.
“It’s his game and you do not want to take that out of his game. His dribbling is provocative, it’s not retention, it’s provocative, to create damage.”
Glowing words indeed and deservedly so, the Chilean has already found the back of the net ten times this season and as long as he stays fit will be the man that the manager turns to, but as Wengers says, he brings far more to the team than just goals.
Sanchez is a unique talent and rightfully called world class, but Arsenal need to make sure that they do not become over reliant on one player.
