Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano has ignited interest from the likes of Liverpool after one of his representatives said he wants to return to England, according to the SportsDirectNews website
The Argentine has been a focal point of Barcelona’s successes since joining in 2010, But as the Catalan club’s wish to sign a recognised central defender continues, Mascherano’s future is in doubt.
Italian club Napoli were said to have agreed terms in principle, but following an interview with Bernardo Brovarone, a representative of Mascherano’s agent, Walter Tamer was quoted as saying: “it now seems the 29-year-old could be set to return to England.
“Mascherano refused to Naples three months ago because he wants to get back in the Premier League. His intentions are clear if he leaves Barcelona and that is to return to England.”
