It is being widely reported that Arsenal has agreed on personal terms with St Etienne defender William Saliba, however, they have not yet agreed to a transfer fee with his club.
According to the reports, the Gunners have negotiated a five-year contract with the 18-year-old and all that is left to be done to make the deal official is for both clubs to settle on a final fee.
But that may be easier said than done, Arsenal have already tabled two bids for the teenager and both have been rejected. The Ligue 1 side want £26 Million and Arsenal has yet to reach that valuation with their offers.
The biggest problem for the North London side is that they do not have a big enough budget to pay any sizeable fee with figures of between £40 Million and £50 Million being touted as to the size of that budget.
Manchester United are also said to be interested in the young lad and that puts the French club in the driving seat, they really do not need to reduce their asking price knowing that there are other interested parties.
The ball is now in Arsenal’s court, they are halfway there, they just have to stump up a few million extra to make this deal happen.
