Arsenal boss keen on target as summer battle to happen

There has been some reports which have claimed West Ham manager Sam Allardyce was in the stands at Anderlecht versus Standard Liege in Belgium on Sunday.

Allardyce was understood to be checking on long-term target Cheikhou Kouyate.

The 24-year-old has been consistently linked with Arsenal over the past 18 months and Allardyce wanted to check out his scouting reports.

He made a personal check while also taking the opportunity to weigh up other players in the game such as Liege’s £8m-rated striker Michy Batshuayi.

Kouyate, who represents Senegal, can play at centre back or in midfield and started in the holding role for Anderlecht as Allardyce watched. Anderlecht ran out 2-1 winners thanks to a goal from teenage Serbia striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. (Daily Mail)

It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
