There has been some reports which have claimed Real Madrid are keen on Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen.
The Belgian defender is touted to leave Arsenal this summer and has been linked with a number of European clubs and [FDN] understand that Real Madrid are keen to make a summer move as they seek to add extra depth to their current defensive options.
Vermaelen captained the Gunners on Saturday in the FA Cup win over Everton but has suffered an indifferent season that has seen him make just seven Premier League appearances.
The 28-year-old joined Arsenal in 2009 from Dutch side Ajax and immediately made an impact, having won the club’s Player of the Month award in his first two monthes at the club.
