After guiding Arsenal to his 7th FA Cup crown this weekend, Arsenal manager. Arsene Wenger is set to sign a new two-year deal with the Gunners.
According to the media, the Frenchman persuaded the club’s chairman Stan Kroenke to ignore fans calling for his head and take note of the facts when deciding on his future.
The Arsenal board appears to have listened to what Wenger had to say, or at the least, ignore what a significant section of the Arsenal faithful have been demanding.
Fans had been urging the club not to offer the Frenchman a new deal since the turn of the year, and one club board member had earlier on assured fans that their outcry would play a major role in whether he is offered a new deal or not.
Wenger himself admitted that fans always want change, and when they don’t get what they want, it might become too bad for the club. He acknowledges the lack of patience among the soccer fans nowadays.
However, Wenger clearly did not want to call time on his Arsenal career yet and will be ecstatic that the club has decided to go against the wishes of a section of the fans and offer him a new deal.
