Manchester United have been put on full alert as Lyon boss Hubert Fournier has admitted target Sam Umtiti has asked to leave the club.
The 20-year-old was in fine form in Ligue 1 last season, establishing himself as a key player in the heart of Lyon’s defence and impressing a number of top clubs.
Milan were believed to be the frontrunners for his signature, though has now emerged that the Reds are keen to bring the French youngster to Old Trafford.
And Lyon are willing to let him leave for the right offer.
As quoted on the Daily Star website, Lyon boss Hubert Fournier said: “Sam (Umtiti) has also asked to leave if an offer comes in.
“The club has listened to them and if the interests of the club are respected, then why not… The departure of the pair of them is not what we want, but perhaps one of the two will leave.”
