Chelsea edge closer to striker deal as chase stepped up to get end of season deal done

MLS franchise New York City FC have intensified their pursuit of Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o

The Cameroon international, who has netted eight Premier League goals for Jose Mourinho’s side this term, comes to the end of his contract at the end of the season and is unlikely to extend his stay.

While he has previously told newspaper Mundo Deportivo of his desire to return to former club Mallorca, a source close to the west London outfit toldFDN that Eto’o is one of the American team’s top targets.

New York, who gained heavy investment from Premier League club Manchester City, don’t start competitive action until next year, leaving Eto’o the option of making a short-term move elsewhere before heading to the ‘Big Apple’ in 2015. (SportsDirectNews)

It would not be a massive shock to see him make a move to the MLS at the end of the season
