Chelsea have finally opened talks over a new contract for captain John Terry, according to reports on the Daily Telegraph website.
Terry’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and the defender had been linked with a move to the MLS.
However, Jose Mourinho is keen to keep hold of the club most successful Captain and talks have begun, with both parties hoping an agreement can be reached.
Terry turned 33 in December and has been playing some of the best football of his career to help Chelsea to the top of the Premier League table.
And the negotiation process may not be straightforward, with the fact Terry is likely to be asked to take a cut to his £150,000-a-week wages.
