Manchester United’s hopes of signing Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze have taken a significant step forward, according to the Metro website.
United are believed to be keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, who has won two Bundesliga titles with Munich and has scored 19 goals since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2013.
And the latest comments from Munich’s chief executive, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, only make a move to Old Trafford seem more likely.
Rummenigge said: ‘The duration of his contract is known (until 2017). In addition to that, we are not aware of anything.
‘There is only one price, and that’s the price of the market, which is controlled by supply and demand.’
