Chelsea have pencilled in September’s clash with Wolves for the return of Antonio Rudiger, who has been out since the final few weeks of last season.
The German international suffered a knee injury which ended up requiring surgery. The player has reportedly been working extremely hard at getting back to fitness and is ahead of schedule.
He has been undergoing rehabilitation at Chelsea’s Cobham training centre and his progress is what has lead to the growing confidence that he will return to action sooner than expected.
If Rudiger does not make the Wolves game Chelsea are confident that he will definitely make the following weekend game against Liverpool
This is good news for Chelsea who are not in a position to strengthen their squad in this summers transfer window and need every player fit and fresh that they can get.
Rudiger is very important to new Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and may well name the German international as captain for the new season.
The 26-year-old has fast become a fans favourite at Stamford Bridge since joining the Blues from Roma back in July 2017 for a whopping £34 Million.
