Arsenal have had a bid for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi rejected, reports the Daily Star.
With manager Arsene Wenger stating he would enter the transfer market before Tuesday’s deadline if an “exception player” became available, coupled with Karim Benzema pledging his future to Real Madrid, it seems the Gunners may have switched their attention to other strikers.
However, the Star claim a move for Icardi as an alternative for Benzema is now off the cards, after an unspecified bid was been rejected by Inter for the £32million-rated striker.
Italian sports journalist Emanuele Giulianelli quoted as saying: “What has gone on behind the scenes after Benzema deal went off.
“Arsenal showed interest in Mauro Icardi but Inter refused to sell him.”
