Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has urged Raheem Sterling to say at Anfield.
Manchester City have submitted a £40million bid for the attacker, as they pile on the pressure for Brendan Rodgers to sell.
Fowler told the Mirror: “It’s obvious Raheem has been confused by what’s happened over the last few months, but I still believe the right thing for his development is to stay, and I hope for his sake he can somehow see that.
“I still think there is time to back away from this. These things seem to get a momentum and you think you have no options, but if he were to take a step back and find a way of staying at Liverpool, I think the fans would embrace that.
“I’m not having a go at him, he’s a kid and when things like this happen it can scramble your brain, but I’m saying that he can still stay at Liverpool – even now – and it’s the best place for him.
“He’d be crazy to go at this stage in his development, surely he can see how much the manager has got out of him already, and can develop him even more?”
