Arsenal’s midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a “serious” transfer target for Liverpool ahead of the summer’s transfer window.
The Gunner has been one of the English players that have attracted the interest of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp this season, and the German wants to follow up his interest with a bid for the midfielder.
Chamberlain is entering the final year of his current deal with the Gunners, and the club is expected to open up talks with him following their FA Cup win over Chelsea this weekend.
However, Chamberlain is set to ask the Gunners for assurances that he would be fielded in his preferred central midfield role if he extends his contract, a position that Arsene Wenger has been reluctant to play him so far.
Klopp would have no problem playing him in that position and would give him a more vital role if he joined the Reds. But with enough competition in the Reds midfield, the England man could expect even more competition should he move to Anfield.
He was signed for £15 million by the Gunners in the summer of 2011, and the Gunners would hope to sell him for at least £20 million.
